What To Expect
Welcome to Apostles Lutheran Church! We are excited to have you join us. And we are also aware that you may come wondering what to expect at Apostles Lutheran. Here are just a few things that you may notice:
Worship - We have worship on Sunday mornings at 8:45am and 10:45am and usually lasts about one hour. The 8:45am worship has traditional music led by our organ along with a choral anthem from our Gloria Dei Choir.
The 10:45am has contemporary music led by our ICHTHUS (a term that refers to the fish symbol used among early Christians) band.
Education - We have Adult Education classes on Sunday mornings between worship services in the N. Theisz classroom.
We also invite All to our Wednesday Evening Bible Study class in Theisz Hall at 7:00 PM. Both are led by our Pastor Luke.
Children's Church is held during both worship services. Children's Church is for kids ages 3-11.
Kid's Spark Club meets between worship services in Theisz Hall. Ms. Jen plans fun activities to expand on the lessons the kids had in Children's Church.
Messages - We believe that God’s word continues to be relevant across the many facets of our lives. The Sunday message is 10-15 minutes long and allows us to learn and be inspired in living out our faith in all we say and do.
Kids - Children are welcomed and embraced at Apostles. In fact, we want to see AND hear children. Parents who bring their child/children to worship are placing God as a priority in their lives and we applaud parents who do so! There are also activity bags available in the lobby, as well as coloring pages that correspond to the day’s lesson. We know that children, at times, need a break. That is why we offer Pastor's Children's Time and Children's Church during worship.
Dress - Come as you are. The Christian church has historically had a stereotype for requiring/expecting certain attire for Sunday worship. This is how the “wear your Sunday best” phrase originated. We prefer casual and comfortable.
Offering - During worship you will notice people making an offering: a financial contribution to support God’s work in our world in response to what God have given to us. Please don't feel that you will be pressured to give because we don't expect you to give. Give to God what you feel is good for this time knowing that your gifts are gratefully received for God’s work in our world!
Holy Communion - The bread and wine of Holy Communion are tangible reminders of Christ’s presence with us. We join in Holy Communion every Sunday. Everyone is welcome to join in the meal. If you feel a bit uncomfortable participating in Holy Communion, feel free to sit in your seat and have a time of quiet reflection in God’s presence.
